One of the questions I get asked most often is:
“Why did you become an animal chiropractor?”
The answer starts long before I became a chiropractor.
A Lifelong Love of Animals
As a child, I always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. I grew up with both cats and dogs, and animals have always been an important part of my life.
When I was young, I spent three years working at a veterinary office where I cleaned kennels, assisted the veterinary technicians, and learned as much as I could about animal health and care. Looking back, those early experiences sparked a passion that would eventually shape my career.
Becoming a Chiropractor
Although my path ultimately led me to becoming a chiropractor, my love for helping animals never went away.
After earning my Doctor of Chiropractic degree, I spent nearly seven years taking my own pets to an animal chiropractor. I saw firsthand how chiropractic care could help improve mobility, comfort, and overall quality of life.
One day, someone asked me a simple question:
“Why don’t you learn how to do this yourself?”
That question changed everything.
Going Back to School
I enrolled in the Options for Animals Animal Chiropractic Certification Program, one of the leading animal chiropractic training programs in the country.
The program required five months of intensive training, with one week spent in Kansas each month. Between the flights, studying, weekly examinations, practical evaluations, final testing, and preparation for the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA) certification exam, it was a significant commitment.
Our class consisted of 30 students:
– 27 veterinarians
– 3 chiropractors
The training was challenging, but I knew it was exactly where I was meant to be.
Combining Two Passions
Today, I have the privilege of combining two things I have always loved:
✔ Chiropractic care
✔ Animals
Helping pets move better, feel better, and enjoy a higher quality of life is one of the most rewarding aspects of my practice.
Whether I am working with a senior dog struggling with arthritis, a performance dog competing at a high level, a cat experiencing mobility issues, or a pet recovering from an injury, my goal is always the same—to
help them function at their best.
What Is Animal Chiropractic?
Animal chiropractic focuses on evaluating and restoring proper motion and function within the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. By addressing
areas of restriction within the spine and joints, chiropractic care can help improve movement, comfort, flexibility, and overall well-being.
