What Is Animal Reiki?
Animal Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice developed from the teachings of Dr. Mikao Usui. The word Reiki translates to “universal life energy.”
During a Reiki session, I serve as a channel for this healing energy, allowing it to flow where your pet needs it most. Every animal responds differently, but many become deeply relaxed during treatment and continue to experience a greater sense of calm afterward.
Pet owners often seek Animal Reiki to support:
- Stress and anxiety
- Recovery after surgery or injury
- Senior pets experiencing age-related changes
- Emotional transitions, such as moving or welcoming a new family member
- Behavioral changes
- Hospice and end-of-life comfort
- Overall wellness and relaxation
What to Expect During Your Pet’s Reiki Session
Every session begins with a conversation about your pet, including their health history, personality, lifestyle, and any concerns you’d like to address.
Your pet is never forced into a position or expected to participate in a certain way. Reiki is always offered respectfully, allowing your animal to choose how they wish to receive the energy. Some pets enjoy lying quietly, while others may sit nearby, move around the room, or simply rest comfortably.
Hands may be placed gently on or just above your pet, depending on their comfort level and preferences. Every treatment is tailored to your animal, creating a calm and supportive experience.
Following the session, we’ll discuss any observations from the treatment and answer any questions you may have.
My Reiki Training
I am trained in the Usui tradition of Reiki and have received Level I and Level II attunements .
My Reiki lineage traces through my teachers back to Hawayo Takata , who introduced Reiki to the Western world, and ultimately to Dr. Mikao Usui . Maintaining this lineage is an important part of traditional Reiki practice, and I feel honored to share this work with the animals and families I serve.
As a chiropractor with advanced training in animal care, I combine my knowledge of anatomy, movement, and holistic wellness to provide thoughtful, compassionate care for every patient.
The Five Reiki Principles
Dr. Mikao Usui believed Reiki was not only a healing practice but also a philosophy for living with greater peace and gratitude.
- Just for today, do not worry.
- Just for today, do not anger.
- Honor your parents, teachers, and elders.
- Earn your living honestly.
- Show gratitude for everything.
